WAYNESBURG, Pa. (UPI) -- Officials in Pennsylvania's Greene County said they plan to temporarily drop the name "Greene" to show support for the Super Bowl-bound Pittsburgh Steelers.
Pam Snyder, chairwoman of the Greene County Commission, said a resolution will be introduced Wednesday night to temporarily change the county's name in advance of Sunday's Super Bowl game against the Green Bay Packers, WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh, reported.
"Instead of Greene County, we're going to be Black and Gold County, so there is no chance that any Green Bay Packer fan will think that Greene County is cheering for their side, because we're not," Snyder said.
Officials said the county also will hold a rally Friday at the county courthouse to support the Steelers and raise money for the Humane Society of Greene County
